Niblet & Chalupa
Sebastopol Geese
Niblet and Chalupa are brothers, and were our first geese. They are full-curly Sebastopols, and sport fancy curly feathers and a long feather train in the summertime, along with a big ‘ole attitude. Although Sebastopols are generally not as aggressive as some other breeds, they can be very territorial. We originally got them to guard our ducks against predators. However, we soon fell in love with the breed and have since adopted 2 girls to keep our ganders company.
Pumpkin & Ladybird
sebastopol geese
We adopted LadyBird as an adult. She is around 3 years old, and is a full curly grey “saddleback” Sebastopol Goose. She is very petite and was not well socialized as a gosling, so she tends to fear people. Pumpkin is a big beautiful buff saddleback with full curly frills, adopted as a gosling from Fluffy Bottoms Farm in Connecticut. She is about a year old, and is extremely sweet and friendly.
Penelope, TicTac & Billie Brown Duck
Indian runner & khaki campbell ducks
These sweeties are currently our only ducks…for now! Penelope and TicTac are both fawn and white Indian Runners. They were adopted several years apart, both at around 1 year old. Penelope is our oldest flock member, at 8 years old, and loves everyone. TicTac is around 3, is funny and friendly and is all about snacks. Billie aka “Brown Duck” was adopted with TicTac, and her sister Dillie (deceased). She is a Khaki Campbell duck. She tends to be a little shy but is secretly a rebel. All the ducks love a muddy day, foraging in the yard for bugs, and splashing in puddles.
Poppy, Peaches, RaceCar, Cricket & Crumpet
THE CHICKENS
I never really thought we would get chickens, but our daughter was set on it, so here they are! I admit I do enjoy them. Cricket and Crumpet (white and grey), are Brahmas, and have fluffy feet. Crumpet always has a lot to say. Poppy (light brown) is a Buff Orphington and loves to snuggle. Peaches (dark brown) is a Rhode Island Red and is a skilled escape artist. RaceCar (black and white) is a Barred Rock and is very social. They all love jumping for treats like lettuce, and are excellent egg layers.
